ZaPow is the brainchild of the dynamic husband & wife duo Lauren and Matt Johnson. Lauren Johnson - CEO & Creative Director. ZaPow has grown out of my own desire to have a gallery that celebrates illustrative work/ pop art." - Lauren Lauren has worked as a professional designer and illustrator for ten years. Before starting ZaPow she was the art director for a small software company in the past she was a resident illustrator for Western Carolina University's publications department, the Resident New Media Designer at McColl Center for Visual Arts, and has worked in pre-press design and gallery management. She received a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design and completed an honors course in web design at Parsons Paris in Paris, France and graphic design at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch New Zealand. Lauren also received a Masters of Fine Arts in interdisciplinary Arts with a focus on writing and illustrating picturebooks from Goddard College in Plainfield, Vermont. Lauren is a former Resident New Media Artist at the McColl Center for Visual Arts in Charlotte, North Carolina. She was also an Artist in Residence at the Burren College of Art and Design in Ballyvaughan, County Clare, Ireland. Her artwork has been exhibited in Ireland, New Zealand, France, Italy and across the United States. Her writing and illustrations have appeared in many publications including the Asheville Citizen Times, Carolina Arts, the Charlotte Observer, the Haywood County News, the Laurel of Asheville, Live Valuation Magazine, Mountain Express, the Rhode Island School of Design Alumni Magazine, SCBWI Carolina's - Pen & Pallette, WNC Magazine, VERVE and WRE Magazine,. Matt Johnson - Co-Owner and Audio/Video Producer Matt received two Bachelors of Science degrees from Western Carolina University. One in Mass Communications - Electronic Media and a second in Computer Information Systems. He is a former large market radio station DJ, audio production engineer and has 5 years of software testing and usability experience. When it comes to video and audio production no one can beat Matt. He is a perfectionist and will not rest until the final product is just right. Always with iPhone in hand, Matt was into social networking before there was an Internet.
